Youll have to set it all back up...not just a drop in. I am toying with the idea the 88 has a NON C clip 35. I think the carrier break is a 3.55 so the carrier should be fine.

Cuz you want it.

You know. That actually might not be a bad idea. Though Id bet that other axle is a 3.55 is it not? Maybe you should skip this whole process and just weld the 35 back together for now, then go find yourself a set of 4.10 YJ axles and put those under it instead. Your going to run what 35's....gonna HAVE to have gears anyway. Just a thought.

not neccessarily my young Jeepin lad. All in how you treat it.

Idealy though a set of 4.10 axles set back to spring under and some 33's on this thing and it'd be the bees knees!

I'm not sure but I don't believe the carriers will interchange if it is a non c-clip & the LSD is a "93 (c-clip) Also You DO NOT need to do a full set up if you change only the carrier and use the same gears that came out of the original housing you just need to put the shims back in exactly as they came (don't mix them up) just run a dial indicater before you pull it apart to check back-lash put it back together with the different carrier then run dial-indicater again it should not have chanced more than .001 or .002 and will work fine. You only need to do a complete set-up when changing gear sets.

From bumper to bumper it has a lot of things wrong with it but does have a nice paint job!! Not sore at anyone this is just my own observation on what I feel. Of course we all add our own personal touches, that is to those of us that builds them and doesn’t buy them already built!

I was talking about the rear axle...

2nd time I've heard this comment from someone here in the last month or so. Just out of curiosity...What does it matter if you buy it already built? Someone else puts in the wrench time...and shells out all the cash, yet sells it for much much less then they have in it. Seems to me like the smart way to buy.

ya i'd have to buy one from out of town, other wise it's always know as xxx's jeep , but u can save a lot of money buying what someone else built, cause they will usually always, sell for a lot less than what it cost them to build, but thats the fun i get, is from building a jeep up, once its looking good and everything works then its time to sell and get another one

I have never had any luck buying somthing someone allready built. I guess I am to much of a Perfectionist in my own mind. I always have to redue everything over.
