if you did tow it i wouldn't tow it far, you would want to get trailer brakes, cause it would push the libby for sure

Drop a line to Matt Mulcahey. He can tell you a lot about the capabilities of the Libby.

I believe the Liberty is rated at 5,000# with the factory towing kit which includes an auxillary transmission cooler or 3,500# without, I think 5k is a generous rating regardless with the 3.7 v6. Law requires trailer brakes for anything over 3500#. A car trailer depending on the style will weigh 1500# and up by itself. So that combined with the weight of a TJ at approximately 4,000 to 4,500 depending on bumpers, winch, tires etc. would definitely exceed the maximum 5k rating.

You might want to double check that. I'm pretty sure the Liberty was rated for 6000#. I was amazed when I heard that too but remember being told by Jeep officials at Camp Jeep once.
