Steel VS Aluminum

Post by xjjeepthing »

My rims are rusted badly. Need to replace them. Lets here the pros and cons of steel and aluminum.
God grant me the serenity to accept the impossible trails I cannot crawl, courage to crawl the twisted trails I can and the wisdom to keep the tire side down.

rims

Aluminum doesn't rust....The clear coat comes off over time and they "oxidize"/pit/scale up from road salt. They can't take the abuse a steel can. Steelies you can strip and paint or powdercoat. If you only mud occasionally and no rough stuff......aluminums will work and they do look good....unless you hit a rock...which will take a chunk out. Depends on your personal preference really.
