Long arm build question

I am building my own long arms for my 96 grand cherokee and have a couple of questions i hope you guys could answer for me. I have already got the lower arms built and put in. I am planning on using RE adjustable upper arms in them front. Does it matter how far back i mount them on the lower arm or is there a certain degree that the front arm should be at? Isn't the upper arms main purpose to keep the pinion angle set during articulation?
Also, would i be alright if i just ran the driver upper arm similar to what Iron Rock does with their kit? I have heard that the Claytons style radius arm design will cause some binding.
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Ben
