4 link conversion on a yj

Post by 87yjforlife »

I am looking for a new project to do this spring. I am wanting to lift and convert my yj from its 6 inch reverse shackle lift to a 4 link. Being that there maybe someone in this forum that has done it I was hopeing I could get someone's 2 sense, and hopefully a link of some sorts. Any comments or help is appreciated. Thanks

Are you looking for a bolt on or weld on? The bolt on very costly. There are many weld on kits. Depending on what your looking for for performance or use. I've done 2 weld on. Its pretty easy. I mixed and matched from various companies brackets and joints. To many options

I'm looking to do a good weld on, I won't to be able to flex more and have more down travel than what leafs offer, bc I have a set of Dana 60's to put under it and I eventually want to do an ls swap too I kind of figured a mix and match was the route to go, is there any kits you fan think of off hand troy...

Again depends on how crazy you going get. With the weight of 60s and say a 38in tire I'd go blue Fab works. Brackets Gen right. Gosh list can go on. Just do some time work on brackets and check thickness and availability .some places don't have good reps for service

I bought Ballistic Fab Joints and Brackets (1/4 stuff).
Yea, yea, I hated the service from Ballistic - but they do have a superior product. :smt003

I had so much fun with that JK. You may have noticed that I ran it pretty hard, I just could not keep it from breaking all the time. It was my first Jeep. The one I'm building now is ( or intended to be) stronger in every way. I can't wait to drive this bad boy.

Yes you did. From what you have told me. You will be much stronger. ;)

What amount of droop are you running? What color is it going to be? You end up with 40s or 42s?

The Suspension will be Fox 2.5 air shocks with 14" travel.

I not sure what you mean by "droop" I guess it would be 1/2 the travel distance? or 7"
My plans are to paint it non-Red.....sorry guys... I am going to paint it "Rescue Green" or at least close to the color of my old JK
I decided on running 40"s until I found out how much those babies cost so, I ended up with some military take offs, GoodYear with Kevlar 37 x 12.5 x 17, I found 4 really good ones and a 5th for a spare for less money than two of the "40's. Oh well...maybe next time.
