anybody have an OBD code reader ii can use for a short time?
i have an engine light on......

Might be wrong... but doesn't Autozone do that for free? No diagnosis, but just the code reading... If so, Teepot is a member here and he works at the Azone over on Nappanee St South of the water treatment plant.

i am going to try autozone first, if that dont work out i might take up bandit on his offer or maybe bug sandfox for his... thanks again guys.
(i did the key turn three times thing, and got p0456, which seems to be an elusive code at best) evap leak.....

thanks man, i might need some of it, dont know yet. i am going to try autozone reader, then to reset by disconnecting the battery, and take it from there. are you in a hurry to get rid of the stuff?

speed.. the readers at autozone will only tell you generic codes.. the one i have will tell you all the factory codes

Eh Quack,
You should not have to disconnect your battery to clear the codes, my reader will clear them out as well as read them. Bandits n Sandfox's will prob do the same. Also, depending on your vehicles security unplugging the battery could cause issues with things like your radio, etc (I know my '04 GM truck with the BOSE system will NOT work with out the security code and if i pull the batteries with out saving the code - I'm SCREWED). Someone else on the forum here can prob tell ya if your at risk of that (I'm not sure on that one, just a word of caution).

uh, wow, really?
i did the battery before work this am in the dark driveway at 4:30am, and the code is gone, i didnt check to see if the radio still works....... crap. now gonna worry till noon.

very true duff.. my honda is the same way but im not sure about the TJ's security either.. but i can def clean any codes with either scanner without disconecting the battery and messing anything up
