D-30 spool or not???

Post by dragordie »

Well my Cherokee has a LSD D-35 in the rear plans are a pair of Moser axels. My question is can I spool the front D-30 and have no problems driving on the streets in rear 2wd??

That depends... do you have a CAD front axle or not? If you have a cad front axle you should be fine in 2wd on the street... (someone chime in if I'm wrong) However if you have a non CAD axle your not going to have a good time. As both your front tires will be trying to spin the same speed all the time. Therefore around a corner, your Jeep is going to try to go straight.

Yes if cad it can be spooled or welded(cheaper), if not as Taylor said there will be ZERO slippage and something will have to give.

No problem. If you are super crafty you can come up with a lock right or the sort for $150.

EDIT* here is one for $100, think it could be NY, but they might ship.

I'm running a spool in the front end - but have lock-outs.
You would think that this guy could just slap a pair of lock-outs in and do the "Lincoln-Lock"... But I have no idea what hubs may fit with the smaller axles (have not messed with them much at all).

Doing a hub conversion on XJ/TJ/MJ/ZJ/YJ requires a hub conversion kit which includes everything knuckle out for around $1100 or so. Or a guy would have to swap in another axle...
